I pre-selected my book for January because it was logically meant to be read when I could get my hands on the movie.
The Unwanted book for January is The Maze Runner.
I don't know why, but the story just doesn't really pull me in and there always seems to be mixed reviews on it. It's my brother's book, so I never really intended on reading it, but I'm curious about the movie, so I'll be reading it this month.
I randomized the others twice. (Okay, I cheated, but I needed the easiest book to be around finals)
February: Linger
March: Orange is the New Black
April: The Power of Six
May: Triangles
June: Delirium
July: Blue Moon
August: Kings of Cool
September: Twisted
October: Hemlock Grove
November: Collateral
December: Hate List
Some of these books are there for different reasons than others. However, they can easily be broken up into categories: lack of interest, sequel/prequel, or attempted but failed. There's a few outsiders, however.
Lack of interest - Delirium, Twisted, Hate List, and Collateral
Contemporaries just aren't my thing. They just all seemed dull to me, but interesting enough for me to keep.
Sequel/Prequel - Linger, The Power of Six, Blue Moon, Kings of Cool
The problem with these is that I didn't start them right after I read whatever book preceded them (or came after them, in the case of Kings of Cool being a prequel). Now, I don't even remember what the first books for Linger and Blue Moon were about. Hence why I've been avoiding them. Irony that Linger fell first. D:
Attempted but Failed - Orange is the New Black and Triangles
I got decently far into both of these, but just got distracted and gave up on both of them. Extreme avoidance because I didn't feel like starting them over.
That leaves precious Hemlock Grove. I'm mostly just wary about this one because it's not YA, which means it might be a bit harder to get through, and I'm also not very fond of books-to-TV show adaptations. But, don't get me wrong, I am rather excited to read it, but I feel like it might have to be forced through, sadly.
Thankfully, on the second try the order actually worked out quite well. The Power of Six and Triangles took the final months of the Spring semester and Collateral took November. Also, the two I'm probably looking forward to the least, Kings of Cool and Blue Moon took the summer months since I'll have nothing better to do that force myself through them.
I CAN DO THIS.
Maybe.
